Playback Theatre in Clinical Practice: Stories to Empower Self & Others

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Stories are how we understand our world, who we are, where we are from, and what we may have come through. Stories are the glue that holds families, communities, and cultures together. Playback Theatre is an original form of improvisational theatre in which group members tell stories from their lives and watch them enacted on the spot. It is a powerful method of empowerment and community-building used globally in a variety of settings, including mental health, social justice, and education. In this daylong Master Class, participants will learn to use Playback Theatre to transform personal stories through creative play, sound, movement, and improvisation. They will also learn the history and applications of Playback Theatre, particularly as a therapeutic modality to support role identification, increase self-esteem, and develop empathy and resiliency. No previous Playback Theater experience necessary.

Eligible for 6.0 Credits: ATCB, NBCC; ASWB, APA, MFT, Nursing; SWNYS
