ROOM 714
Children with histories of emotional trauma are at risk for social and emotional challenges throughout their lives. Yoga, which has been shown to improve both physical and emotional health in children and adults alike, can be an effective tool for working with traumatized children. Yoga-based psychotherapy is a trauma-informed intervention that utilizes yoga and movement techniques to increase self-awareness, self-regulation, self-esteem, and prosocial behaviors in traumatized children. This workshop will demonstrate the practical use of Yoga-based psychotherapy, and examine the theoretical principles that guide these practices. Participants will engage in experiential activities, and learn to apply these practices and principles in their own clinical work.
Participation in the experientials are optional, and no previous yoga experience is necessary.
