Healing Grief & Loss through Art Therapy and Mind-Body Techniques

This 90-minute workshop will demonstrate how art therapy and mind-body practices can work together to address issues of grief, loss, trauma, and self-care. Bodywork, yoga, energy psychology, and creative practices will be considered to explore how we can heal the person as a whole—mind, body, and spirit. Through a presentation of didactic material, case studies, and experiential methods, participants will provided with a toolkit of sensory, artistic, and mindful practices and techniques. We will also address the ethical and practical issues related to combining various healing modalities.

Eligible for 1.5 Credits: ATCB, NBCC; ASWB, APA, MFT, Nursing; SWNYS

Rebecca Jacobson, MA, ATR

Rebecca Jacobson, MA, ATR, completed her master's in art therapy in December, 2012. In 2011, she helped introduce art therapy to the Bokamoso Youth Center in Winterveldt, South Africa. Rebecca has contributed to two South African art-based studies as a qualitative researcher and expert in South African art.
