Therapeutic Zumba: Dynamic Rhythms for Building Confidence & Managing Stress

Zumba inspires movement, and allows women to reconnect with their bodies and with one another in a fun, safe, self-loving celebration of being alive. This workshop will break down the key points of Zumba, and demonstrate how it exemplifies dance therapy as understood and taught by Sharon Chaiklin and Marian Chace. Participants will have the chance to experience the presenter’s unique model of the therapeutic Zumba class, which incorporate the key principles of dance therapy and somatic experience. The unique potential of Zumba for building body and sexual confidence will be explored through discussion, as well as its role in enabling the individual to rise to the stresses of daily life. No previous experience is necessary.

Eligible for 1.5 Credits: ATCB, NBCC; ASWB, APA, MFT, Nursing

Penina Sand, MA

Penina Sand, MA, is a David Yallin graduate, licensed dance therapist and dance teacher. She owns a dance studio in Israel and teaches dance and Zumba to women, teens, and children, incorporating therapeutic tools throughout. Penina is a DJ and dance motivator at life cycle events, helping people to connect to one another as they express their truest selves.
