ROOM 714

DR'ART is a group process resulting from the clinical collaboration between a drama therapist and an art therapist. This 90-minute workshop will report on the value of DR’ART’s interdisciplinary creative art therapy directives in a Brooklyn city hospital’s Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Participants will hear about the collaborative process at PHP, and will re-enact a DR’ART technique to gain hands-on experience. The presenters will discuss their experience of working with a predominantly Caribbean population, as well as the clinical ramifications of working with severe, chronic mental illnesses. Other social factors affecting the treatment, such as homelessness, substance abuse, and trauma will also be addressed.
